What does a Spanish with Sophie class look like?

Well, the short answer is… it depends on YOU!

At Spanish with Sophie, we understand that everyone comes at learning Spanish from a different angle: to connect with a partner’s family, to travel more confidently, to engage with immigrant communities, to better serve patients or students…and more!
 
That’s why are are committed to providing 
RELEVANT, PERSONALIZED, AUTHENTIC 
classes for each of our students to make sure they’re making the progress that they need to make.
 
That being said, all of our students are guided through the grammar of Spanish through activities and exercises designed specifically for them. Our students breeze through the tenses and quickly beginning translating song lyrics, discussing politics, and even reading Spanish literature. 
 
What really sets us apart though? ALL of our students are conversational. By class #3, students are speaking for 15 minutes. 
 

WHAT THAT LOOKS FOR YOU

  1. Once you reach out to book a class, our team will connect you to your Spanish Speaking Bestie. This will be the teacher (and friend!) that will guide you through Spanish. 
  2. You’ll meet with your teacher over Zoom and a shared Google Doc. This format will allow you to see and talk with your teacher while you both edit the same document. 
  3. Your teacher will ask you benchmark questions to make sure we’ve got your current level of Spanish right. The beauty of the virtual format is that she will be able to pivot and bring in any lesson plan you need in an instant. 
  4. As you speak, your teacher will type (in real time!) everything you say and everything she says in Spanish so you can see and hear the words all at the same time!
  5. At every point during the class, YOUR questions or interests take the lead. Want to change gears? No problem. Want to go back over something? Just let your teacher know. 
  6. Your teacher will assign you personalized homework based on your classwork and will book your next class before you log off!
